NIW AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To cooperate with the IIW to initiate and develop global best practices in welding science and technology in Nigeria.
- To organize the exchange of scientific and technical information and provide an environment to encourage and sustain the transfer of knowledge and technology through adaptive and innovative research efforts.
- To work with IIW and Standards Organization of Nigeria to standardize and bring to International Standard welding activities in Nigeria.
- To encourage and support a safe, healthy working environment in order to belong to the environmentally friendly world.
- To promote public awareness of the importance of welding science and technology in Industrialization.
- To acquire and make available authentic and up-to-date information in welding, cutting, fabrication and allied processes through conferences, seminars, meetings, exhibition and publications, and to be recognized as the authoritative source of such information.
- To provide its members with means and opportunities for the interchange of ideas, knowledge and experience and to aid in providing solution to the problems of welding, fabrication and construction in Nigeria.
- To advance the development of welding science, technology and practice through education, training, certification and quality assurance.
- To co-operate with the Nigerian Standards Organization in setting and implementing standards, codes and specification for welding practice in Nigeria and liaise with other relevant Government agencies in the furtherance of welding practice and education in Nigeria.
- To establish and enforce a code of professional practice and conduct for welding practitioners in Nigeria
- To accept any gifts, endowments or bequest made to promote welding science and technology in Nigeria
- To provide consultancy services to the welding, fabrication, construction and allied industries in order to stimulate indigenous growth of viable welding establishments in Nigeria
- To ensure that welding practice in Nigeria keeps pace with international standards through the establishment of links with other international welding institutes.
- To do such other lawful things as may be associated with or may be incidental or conducive to the furtherance of welding science and technology in Nigeria.
- To practice as a non-profit making organization
- To promote the establishment of students’ chapter in all Institution where welding and related courses are studied.
- To establish Training, Testing and certification arm to undertake commercial activities in line with global practice.
- To establish Laboratories, workshops and classrooms of international standards to serve the industry need of Nigeria.
