CASE HISTORY

 

Under the PTDF – NIW Collaboration, the following was achieved

TRAIN THE TRAINER EXERCISE

  • Train 20 persons as IIW – International Welding Practitioners (Welders Trainers) in South Africa at Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW)
  • Train 10 persons as IIW – International Welding Specialist (Welding examiners and coordination) in South Africa at Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW)
  • Train 11 persons as IIW – International Welding Engineers (Welding Coordinators) in Turkey at German Institute of Welding (GSI-SLV).
  • Training of 11 underwater welding experts in France at the International Institute de plunge
  • Training of 20 persons in Turkey in advance welding process (up to 5 processes)

 

IN-COUNTRY TRAINING

  • Trained 500 persons under the WTCP phase one,
  • Trained 700 persons under the WTCP phase 2.
  • Trained 130 persons in multi process welding (TIG, MIG, MAG, FLUXCORE and OXY-FUEL)
  • Trained 20 persons on NDT to ASNT level 2 capacity

 

INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY SURVEY

Arising from the various training programs, the need to undertake an Institutional Survey became imminent and as such, PTDF in collaboration with NIW embarked on the survey. The survey shows that there is still a lot to be done in the country.

  • Under the NDDC – NIW Collaboration, the following was achieved.

TRAIN THE TRAINER EXERCISE

  • Train 20 persons as IIW – International Welding Practitioners (Welders Trainers) in South Africa at Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW)
  • Train 40 persons as IIW – International Welding Inspectors Comprehensive level.

 

IN-COUNTRY TRAINING

  • Trained 1,920 persons under the WTCP intervention program
  • Trained 500 persons under the WTCP phase 1.
